HOW DO THEY WORK?
Placement years occur between your last or final year degrees. You complete your final year as usual; then you work for an employer, then return to the University in your final year.
The placement is between July and September of the following year. The duration of the placement can varies by 9 to 12 months; and this can be negotiated with placement employer. Students can check with their relevant department whether there is a restriction on the type of placement role to undertake and meet the course requirements. The easiest way to find out is through your department’s general office.

During the year, you will build professional relationships with your partners and customers. You never know who you'll meet, so interacting with people can help you anticipate future job opportunities.

Some institutions may require you to complete a work-based portfolio. However, it is still useful to write down your thoughts where you are placed. By showing it regularly, it can help you to see your accomplishments and to understand where you can improve in the future. Research shows that those who complete a year of placement attain the highest degree of achievement because they have a set of highly developed skills.
