People and Culture

Explore the culture!

Canada is a nation with stunning natural beauty, rich history and a diverse range of cultures and traditions. It is the second-largest country in the world which is extending from the U.S in the south towards the Arctic Circle in the north.

It is comprised of 10 provinces and three territories. The capital metropolis is Ottawa but you also may be acquainted with different major cities like Vancouver, Toronto and the French-speaking Québec and Montréal.

Canada is bilingual as English and French are the two widely spoken and official languages. However, comparatively English is more common and most people speak English at home.

Indigenous lifestyle!

There are three various groups of Aboriginal people in Canada; First Nations, Inuit, and Métis.

The First Nations people settled in Canada over 15,000 years ago and involved many different communities with their customs, culture, and charm. In today's modern era, there are 634 known First Nations governments throughout Canada, mostly in the provinces of British Columbia and Ontario.

The Métis are descendants of unions between First Nations peoples and Europeans, especially French traders. While the Métis particularly communicate English today, you may hear a few Michif, or Métis French as humans increasingly more take more interest in conventional languages and traditions.

The Inuit are the descendants of the Thule lifestyle and live within the Arctic regions of Greenland, Canada, and Alaska.

Weather

When it comes to Canada? You might be thinking of extreme temperatures or snow blankets! Although this is not always the case.

Following are the weather conditions in each season:

Summer (June to August) - the weather is normally warm to hot, with sunlight hours temperatures among 20°C and 30°C or higher

Autumn (September to November) - the climate begins to get chillier and there is mostly a lot of rain

Winter (December to February) - winters are very cold, with temperatures often staying beneath freezing all day long

Spring (March to May) - the weather begins to get warmer and days are typically very pleasant.

You'll want to remember to wind your clock forward through one hour on the second Sunday in March, as that's the beginning of Daylight Saving Time in most elements of Canada. Daylight Savings helps you to make the most of the warmer climate in spring, summertime, and autumn, as you get extra daylight in the evening.

Politics and authorities

Canada is a constitutional monarchy, which means all selections are made through the authorities and a democratically elected Prime Minister. Canada's head of state is the Queen of the British royal family, who's represented by the Governor-General.

Three shades of the Government in Canada:

Federal – headed by using the Prime Minister, the federal authorities' deals with national and international matters like countrywide defense and overseas affairs

Provincial or territorial - this level of government has the energy to change laws and manage their public lands

Municipal – this stage governs man or woman cities, cities or districts and is normally liable for such things as roads, emergency services, public transportation, and some local fitness and social services.
