Public policy standards deal with a network of collective decisions that lead to the development of new laws, rules and regulations. Public policy makers look at the goals, methods and resources they need to implement effective and sustainable social change. The proposed policies should be mandated by law, so they need to look at issues such as compliance, efficiency, and communication with government institutions and other policies. The difference between the study of public policy and related disciplines such as political science or economics, is that the past is largely focused on applying the theory to practical solutions. Public policy creates a set of foundations, rules and judicial decisions. The discipline of public policy includes beliefs and approaches from economics, sociology, public administration, political science and finance.

In this public policy program, you will learn to look at the importance of cultural competence when making clinical decisions about the care and management of those suffering from mental health. Whether you are a health care practitioner, policy manager, manager or activist, you will be able to look at mental illness and mental illness through the lens of public health and social culture. This is a collaborative program taught by the Center for Global Public Health, and the Center for Psychiatry. As a student of this program you will look at mental health issues within the context of culture. As a trained mental health professional, your study will take place in a broader public health curriculum that includes: hospital and mathematical foundation, understanding of health policy, including finance and human resources policy, an introduction to public health, health care. Anthropology, research understanding, evidence and epistemology

You will continue to study cultural and global issues in mental health care. Much of the research on mental health and clinical practice in the UK is still Eurocentric in its nature and scope of research and does not always fully explore the background of patients seeking to help. In the global world, understanding and respect are important, and you'll find insights from anthropology, sociology and geography as well as psychology and psychology. Finally, you will be completing a dissertation on a topic of your choice in the field of mental health care, mental health or mental health policy.
