This course trains you in applying management strategies to solve business problems from supply chains, including areas such as transportation, warehouses and establishing supplier relationships. Designed by industry input to respond to sector skills gaps and is located near London's main port, it provides potential site visit opportunities and placement. You will explore how organizations manage their product range and operations to best align supply with demand in a global environment, categorized by expanding product variety, increasing outsourcing, and continuous advances in business analytics and areas such as industry competition, resource allocation, organizational learning and competitive dynamics.
Essex’s degree will develop your practical skills in data analysis to better understand markets, consumers and competitors to improve business performance. Computer software draws you to a certain level of business, to help you understand how management and entrepreneurs use analytics to solve Logistics problems. You will discover how crucial data analytics is in today's business world, and consider real-world examples where businesses have harnessed this power to solve critical problems and learn a wide variety of data mining, visual and analytical techniques which can be applied to data generated from different markets and businesses. This degree will expose you to the planning, management and control of logistics and supply chain operations as we look at the areas to consider when designing and managing logistic and supply chain networks. You will also learn the basics of production planning, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Just-in-Time (JIT) systems, inventory management and quality management. You also explore mathematical and computational models that can support your decision making.
