Heriot-Watt University Degree in Fashion and Textile Design explores concepts and contemporary themes in design and fashion. The aim of this course is to develop practice-based learning that is informed through an in-depth study of design. It motivates students from an art and design background to challenge established practice and provide new insights. Curriculum promotes new approaches and processes through well-rebuilt workshops. You can study the fashion and clothing sectors that interest you. You are encouraged to work on subject-area projects that reflect a strategy for creative collaboration between subject areas. And, you will be supported by the knowledge of the employees who cover everything from design and construction to technology and creativity.
The University’s objectives challenge the traditional and contemporary uses of fashion and clothing, as well as create the opportunity to promote new policies and processes in fashion and clothing; Provide students with knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the diverse demands of the fashion and textile industries; Encouragement in interdisciplinary projects, creative collaboration between subject areas to promote innovation; Raise interdisciplinary understanding of key issues related to design, management and innovation in fashion and clothing; Developing competent and reliable professionals for the global fashion and textile industry with a deep understanding of the creative process and its management in international and local contexts. Students will also receive PGDip and PGCert awards in this course.
