BSc Biotechnology

 Biomedical study brings revolutionary changes in the society and people. Research on different organism provides hope and reality to people by treating different diseases and preventions for the future. In the Maynooth University a 4 Years Degree course BSc (Hons) provides the route to develop the required skills of Bio medical sciences. This course is accredited by the Institute of Bio Medical Sciences which provides strong scientific foundation in biological aspect of heath and disease to the local as well as international students in UK. 

The full time BSc (biomedical) has been designed to discover new ways to use DNA technology, Nuclear Technology for mankind, genetics and antibody production. The course consists of molecular biology and cell biology.

 In the First year of course, study the foundation of the biomedical science including biological chemistry, cell and molecular biology, nutrition and human disease .Development of biomedical skills including laboratory skills, data interpretation and analysis in an automated environment. 

Second year of the course comprises of the study of different aspects of human health focusing on specific subjects include molecular biology, neurobiology, physiology, immunology and toxicology. 

In final year of the degree, there is a designated research project which comprises of advance level medical subjects like medical microbiology, molecular genetics, hematology, microbiology, histology and biochemistry. 

On completion of the course, there are potential opportunities of employment in different areas of bio medical sciences like drug discovery, genetics or neuroscience, microbiology, hematology, immunology.
