Bachelor of Social Science

Social science is an integrated field to understand human society and behaviors. It encompasses different aspects of personal lives, communities and the world around. In the Maynooth University a full time BSc Social Science gives the best route to understand and analyze Sociology and its impact on broader scope. Creation and functions of societies, educational attainment, ethnicity, gender and geographical impacts are some of the important aspects of this course.    

 In the first year of degree, study the social policies and sociology. We provide a platform to students to critically analyze new changes of modern society. During the first semester university offers optional subject of student choice and it could be, Anthropology Geography, History or Philosophy.

In the second and third year, study the core skills of social policy as a Double Major mainly focuses on different theories and methods to understand and explore the contemporary urban life, media and relationships.  

On completion of the course, develop essential skills to work in different sectors of business like government and charities. Many multiple career options available for our graduates, particularly careers in policy analysis, management, applied social research and the social professions of social work, community work and youth work.

There is another option to pursue your career in your relevant field; most of the students completed their Master in Social Work to add more value to their CVs. After that students could join as a social worker to anywhere in the country or outside.
