Course Details

The program of Conservation and Wildlife Biology degrees from Edith Cowan University study ecology, biodiversity and ecology and discover the concepts and practical methods of conservation and biodiversity. Wildlife Biology refers not only to endangered species but also to all organisms, including bacteria and fungi. The Bachelor in Wildlife Biology and Conservation raises awareness and understanding of how human life depends on the conservation of wildlife and the natural environment. This course focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to understand the importance of biodiversity conservation. Students develop the ability to analyze what happens between humans and the world of complex ecosystems, and use the tools of modern biology to find ways that address important conservation issues. The course covers ecology, genetics, wildlife management, animal and plant biology, evolution and the thought and practice of biodiversity conservation. Students benefit from a learning environment inspired by world-class research academics with strong industry and governmental links.

A strong active focus ensures students are prepared for positions in government agencies, industry and other organizations undertaking biodiversity conservation, other conservation and environmental management practices (such as wetlands, forests, coastal areas and arid areas).
