University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is a private university founded in 1993 as the first international and Australian university in the UAE, and today it represents a comprehensive brand with campuses located in Australia, Hong Kong and Malaysia.It is the top Australian university in the UAE, comprising of more than 3,500 students from 108 nationalities and a global populace of 152,000 alumni, all of them experts in their respective fields with PhD degrees. UOWD’s curriculum is strongly linked to that of UOW Australia, which is ranked in the top 2% of the world. The university delivers 45 programs and offers foundation courses as well as undergraduate and postgraduate degrees spread across 10 fields of business, such as engineering, business, ICT, educational studies, nursing, communications and media. Leading professional organizations such as ACCA, CPA, AHRI, CIM, CIMA, CIPS, EFQM and ACS formally assent these degrees. Campus Tour

The UOW Dubai Campus is located in Dubai, the largest city in United Arab Emirates. The Campus is located within Dubai Knowledge Village, an educational free-trade region in the city of Dubai that facilitates the development and sustainability of training and learning institutions. In addition to the administrative building and the library, the university campus incorporates the students’ and faculty’s lounges, Multipurpose Room and the Food Court which comprises of a variety of restaurants (The Food Court serves as a mutual eating area for everyone in Dubai Knowledge Village).

The Campus also provides accommodation facilities to students, enabling them to reside together in a unique and diverse environment conducive to academic prowess, individual growth, and character development. These Residences are situated in Jebel Ali Gardens (approximately a 15 minute bus ride away from Dubai Knowledge Village).

The University is set to launch its brand-new 200,000 square foot campus in Knowledge Park in September 2020. The new campus, with its revolutionary facilities and state-of-the-art architecture, will exponentially improve the University’s teaching approach, with accessible and electronically available curricula that are in line with the skill requirements of Dubai Expo 2020 and its legacy.

Student Support

A range of Academic Skills Workshops are offered to both undergraduate and postgraduate students which give them an opportunity to augment their academic skills that will be essential throughout the course of their studies; while letting postgraduates revisit their skills if they had taken a break from studies.

The Workshops focus on topics like:

The Academic Writing Centre is accessible for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, giving them a range of tips to ensure they excel in their assignments.

Its central aim is to highlight the differences between spoken and written language, and understanding why these differences are fundamental to academic writing. It can also corroborate your understanding of formal academic style and teach you how opinions and evaluations are presented in academic writing.

Based on student opinions, this service is available on a one-to-one basis or for groups of students (maximum of 4) Peer Tutoring is organized by trained peer tutors who provide academic support for students either via small group sessions or one-on-one tutoring. The tutors help to simplify difficult course content and enables students to enhance their concepts, cross-reference homework assignments and act as role models.

As per the availability of the Peer Tutors, they offer their support in all subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels throughout the regular semester. However, help may be reduced during examination season (mid-terms & finals). The UOWD campus hosts all the sessions and a Code of Conduct applies to all the students using this program.

A specialized Student Services team readily provides support throughout your studies and beyond. Their aim is to promote student wellbeing by offering a range of services, from initial orientation till graduation.

This team is also responsible to manage the practicalities of university life, including accommodation and commute services, visa processing, healthcare, and financial support. They also provide personal counselling for students who require individual guidance.

The Career Connect office is a service which is accessible to all UOWD graduates throughout the course of their studies. Students can receive career advice and guidance suited to their needs, and familiarize themselves with internship and employment opportunities.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for new students at undergraduate level, ranging from 15% to 50% of tuition fee costs. Two types of scholarships are offered:
