Overview

The University of Bedfordshire, public university situated in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, England.

The university divided into four faculties: Creative Arts, Technologies and Science; Education and Sport; Health and Social Sciences; and according to the Daily Telegraph it has "one of the most generous" scholarship programs in the United Kingdom.

Bedfordshire University also has a business school that is based on the Putteridge Bury campus and offers postgraduate and undergraduate degrees to students who want to study business and management.

University of Bedfordshire has 13,925 students, including 4,500 international students. It has six campuses: there are four campuses in Bedfordshire, in Bedford and Luton; and two campuses in Buckinghamshire, in Aylesbury (for students studying Nursing and Midwifery), and in Milton Keynes (where business studies, electronic engineering, and telecommunications are taught).

University is home to mane sports clubs ranging from badminton and basketball to squash and swimming, along with student societies which cover a wide range of interests, religions, causes, and cultures.

Campus Tour

The two main campuses of University of Bedfordshire are in Luton and Bedford. While there are also two dedicated campuses for the teaching of nursing degrees at Butterfield Park on the outskirts of Luton and at the Buckinghamshire campus at Aylesbury College in Aylesbury. The Knowledge Hub and postgraduate Business School located in Putteridge Bury campus. This campus is in approximately 30 acres of landscaped gardens. A fourth campus smaller, is the University Campus Milton Keynes which became part of the university in 2012.

The university has a £34m Campus Centre which opened in October 2010. It is designed for social activity as well as teaching the Campus Centre incorporates learning zones. There are several eating and drinking places present.

With campuses across Luton, Bedford, Aylesbury and Milton Keynes students of all ages and backgrounds are welcomed. There are over 20,000 students from across 120 countries. Several international and multi-cultural learning communities are present on campus.

Student Support

The University of Bedfordshire Student Union is affiliated to the National Union of Students, which represents students nationwide. The National Union of Students of the UK (NUS) is a confederation of students' unions in the United Kingdom. Over 600 students' unions are affiliated, representing more than 95% of all higher and further education unions in the UK. There is also an NUS Area for London, called NUS London.

Bedfordshire University offers a wide range of support including one-to-one study tutorials, group tutorials, academic workshops and downloadable study guides.

Tutors at study centers can help students with Improving referencing, reading skills, Time Management, Improving exam performance, etc.

The International Office at University of Bedfordshire offers support on issues such as visas, travel and events, accommodation, orientation and induction for new students. It offers a formal Communication Skills course, which deals with academic English and aspects of British university culture.

Every new international student is also given a buddy/ mentor, a current international student to help them settle into their new surroundings.
