Understand why our decisions for healthy new years are always bad without our good intentions. Check out how our brains and bodies drive stress and how psychology can help you fight your next cold. Find out how to evaluate neuropsychological activity. Health psychology is a rapidly growing discipline, which can be very helpful in some of the major public health problems currently facing. In this course, you will ask questions about the important health problems facing our communities, from our aging population to challenging health services, global health challenges and health inequalities. You will explore personality disorders, health behavior change and neuropsychology and research methods. You will also look for ways to improve your health, illness and health care systems through the use of psychological and practical strategies.
Some of the topics to consider include factors that make a person more susceptible to conditions such as heart disease and why people stay on health care issues. You can use psychology to make sure children get enough physical activity, understand the experience of people with stroke, or how to help people with diabetes take their medication. You will also learn the principles and practice of research and assessment, using these skills in online-based dissertation. You will complete a 70-hour learning opportunity to use your psychology education and build your career experience.
Your understanding of human behavior, behavioral change, neuropsychology and research methods gained in this course will enable you to apply for a graduate role in many fields. You may find yourself working with an NHS team, or a commercial, philanthropic or research organization. Alternatively, you may want to continue pursuing a PhD or trainer to become a qualified Health Psychologist. In order to work as a psychologist in the UK, you will need to have a Bachelor of Arts Chartered (GBC) degree, having completed the British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited psychology degree or transition degree. Following your MSc Health Psychology at Manchester Met, you will be required to complete a mental health professional training with a physician and register with the Health Care Council (HCPC).
