Through our MSc Biomedical Science program at Manchester Metropolitan University, you will gain technical skills and deep understanding to explore, integrate and add to that knowledge. You will learn the biological aspects of disease processes, explore specific areas of interest and develop advanced research skills. It is a program that provides a broad basis for understanding and an opportunity to investigate specific areas of study. Therefore, along with the units that provide advanced analytical techniques and a detailed understanding of the various aspects of disease, you will have the opportunity to look for areas that are relevant to your interests and career aspirations. Above all, your independent Research Project is an opportunity to explore the issues that have intrigued you - enabling our extensive network of hospitals across Greater Manchester to conduct clinical research in real-world settings. In short, this course can open doors for your future and equip you for a full-fledged career.
The program provides avenue for various fields of expertise, such as hospital science, the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Topics to cover may include a foundation for careers in research or teaching or pursuing studies towards a PhD. MMU’s work with the NHS and physicians is instrumental in shaping the curriculum, extending our expertise and ensuring that our qualifications are ready for the workplace - and demanded by employers. Career support is available from the moment you join us, throughout your time here, up to three years after your graduation. We have a variety of services available through the Department of Life Sciences and the University Careers Service including volunteer workers and employment counselors.
