Master of Bioinformatics - MSc
English Requirements
- IELTS Overall Band: 6.5

The natural sciences are more data-driven than ever and bioinformatics is now in modern biomedical research. This program will teach you how to analyze, integrate, detect and contain several details, discover new ones and develop new understandings of natural science. New analytical techniques bring more data about genes, proteins, metabolites and interactions between them. There is a high demand across the life sciences of trained bioinformatics who can turn this data into useful information and new biology information. Designed specifically for students with bioscience backgrounds, this master's program teaches you the specialized skills needed to manage and control information, including computer programming, data analysis and statistics. Through demonstrations and practical assignments, you will consider analysis of DNA sequencing data, conservation and evolution, and then look at current developments in the field, including genome duplication and duplication of rain forest products.
The research preparation and multidisciplinary training you receive has the highest standard available. In the second phase, you have the opportunity to study your favorite subject and do your own research work for six months. This includes field samples, experiments, lab work and data analysis that can be handled jointly by consultants and observers from related institutions or industry - providing you with excellent networking opportunities. During your studies you will be able to access support at all levels with your qualifications, including individual tutorial guides, tutorial workshops, and external speakers. Graduates of this course are well positioned to advance to PhD research or careers in industry, consulting, and conservation. Graduates of this course have progressed to: Software Engineer / Bioinformatician at the European Bioinformatics Institute, Informatics Assistant at Blizard Institute, PhD Student at Queen Mary University of London and Bioinformatics PhD Researcher at UCL Cancer Institute.
