The Geographic Information Science Honours Major (BSc) (Honours) gives students the chance to broaden their knowledge of modern academic research methods with respect to the fields of GIS and Remote Sensing. This is carried out by fulfilling subject-oriented units and the completion of a supervised research project, as well as a presentation of an honours dissertation. This major comes under the Bachelor of Science (Science) (Honours) degree, so you will be required to apply for the Bachelor of Science (Science) (Honours) course first. This course has many benefits, as it explains the scientific concepts involved in Geographic Information Science (GIS) and elaborates on existing geospatial methods involved in GIS research. You will also be able to investigate and apply creative scientific solutions to GIS problems using critical thinking skills, and communicate this knowledge accurately with written reports, map visualization and oral presentations which are covered by the ethical and professional code of GIS. This course will also teach you how to select appropriate GIS technologies to answer queries regarding complex geospatial data. You can even go on to do your Postgraduate degree or even obtain a PhD with permanent residency in Australia.
