Bachelor's of Arts

Combine your interest in the arts and social sciences with a broader understanding of the business with courses in accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing. Your Bachelor of Commerce gives you a choice of five majors such as: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management or Marketing. During your first year, along with basic business studies, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary project team to research a social problem and develop a business plan. For the second year, you will take on the Sustainability project, where your team will explain the solution to the environmental issue. In the third year, you will develop your research, presentation, analysis and problem-solving skills with the Entrepreneurship project, where your team will identify business opportunity and develop a business plan.

At La Trobe University, you will have the option of participating in the Professional Practice in Business program, which offers internships, internships, case studies, tours, corporate tours and industry-focused seminars. In addition to your business studies, you can choose from a range of arts subjects including languages, literature, history, journalism, philosophy and politics to create titles that are specifically tailored to your interests. Major advertising in the Bachelor of Commerce is endorsed by the Australian Marketing Institute. Depending on the selection of subjects within the Bachelor of Commerce, students may be eligible for the degree course of signing accredited by CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; please refer to the Handbook for more details.
