The degree will provide you with the current minimum academic requirements for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia and abroad. The degree will allow you to acquire knowledge across a range of key areas, including cognition, psychological testing, biopsychology, psychopathology, personality and research methodology. In addition to the compulsory subjects, you will also complete a minor study in another discipline to enhance your study experience and have more opportunities. A broad choice of electives is available, including Crime, Health, Substance Abuse, and the Legal System, and Stress and Trauma. To graduate you must satisfactorily complete 256 points over the period of four years.
A four-year psychology degree will open many doors for you in the workforce. Currently, upon graduation from the Bachelor of Psychology you may apply for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia. You will have the opportunity become eligible for general registration as a psychologist with at least two years of supervised practical experience. It would allow you to provide counselling and wellbeing services through social welfare positions or, once you have completed your registration, go into private practice. It is also possible to work with large and small companies or consulting firms to provide human resource and organisational wellbeing support and insights.
