Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) - BEng

As we strive to sustain and reduce carbon emissions, the concepts of Mechanical Engineering are essential to making the world a cleaner and safer place. This Mechanical Engineering BEng provides you with training to lead teams of various structures in the construction of complex systems. These include electric generators, motor power trains, and jet engines. At Sussex, we conduct world-class research, enriching your teaching. Dynamics, control and Vehicle Research Center and Thermo-Fluid Mechanics Research Center, are developing new concepts in automotive technology and efficient engines, among other things. You will learn from our Future Technologies Labs which include computer suits and new functional / robotic environments.

There is a dedicated production lab with functional facilities such as CNC machines and 3-D printers. You will be able to study subjects such as CAD, computational fluid dynamics using optional modules and work in areas such as control, vibration, tribology, or aerodynamics with project work including Formula Student projects and air-driven car projects. We have provided academic advisors to support you during your time in Sussex and the student advisory team. You will also be welcomed into our active, student-working engineering communities. Sussex also offer this education in the year of industrialization, as a four-year MEng, or as a five-year MEng in an industrialization year.
