The automotive industry has tremendous potential, providing excellent employment opportunities for large companies, parts suppliers and automotive companies. The University has a long track record of producing skilled engineers across the branch of the automotive industry. This graduate course is intended for car design, though very similar to a Mechanical Engineering degree. The course focuses on the design of new vehicles, examining consumer needs and performance goals set by the industry in terms of road safety and durability. It also provides the first step to getting a chartered developer status.
The program prepares you for the many excellent career options available to a skilled automotive engineer. Interns sometimes return to their final year scholarships with sponsors and are already holding jobs. The university has links with all the major automotive companies in the UK and overseas, and most Formula One race teams have our graduate students in their design team. There are also career opportunities for consulting, traffic safety specialists. Many other students decide to stay at the University and increase their motor education at the graduate level.
The prospect for student recruitment goes well and you can expect to be employed in the construction, manufacturing or testing of one of the largest automotive companies in the UK or abroad. In fact, many Formula One teams have one of the graduate students in their design team. Some graduates decide to stay and increase their motor education at the graduate level.
