The program is a new cross-faculty partnership between the Business School and the Faculty of Science. It is designed to produce graduates who can clearly demonstrate their understanding of the statistical models used in actuary calculations, their computer use, and the financial and economic conditions of these statistics. These courses are designed so that students with strong mathematical and mathematical ability, but who have not studied these subjects in detail about their undergraduate degrees, can acquire the necessary skills to move into the financial industry.
Actuarial Science Program accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA); Approval Agreement Approach for IFoA CS1 and CB2 courses. Students will also receive PgCert and PgDip exit awards for this course. Increasing access to health care and changes in insurance regulation drive greater demand for actuaries and, when appropriate, actuaries can operate anywhere in the world. Graduates of this course who wish to pursue technical studies such as actuaries will work for an insurance company or consulting firm. Most graduates enter this profession by joining a company as an actuarial trainer or risk analyst at the same time as studying for a professional exam. Most trainees start their careers in the financial services industry, especially in the general areas of insurance and pension employment.
